Our New Favorite Thing!

For months we’ve been watching the development of a new parklet being groomed onto a hillside over an underground garage, preserving the ancient olive trees growing there and adding grass, flowers, and benches. A half-block off one of the three driving-roads in town, it is quietly shielded behind six-story apartment buildings.
This is infinitely more pleasant than our parking lot for taking Kiwi out for a prowl in her vest & leash. Our first foray included pigeons, a dog, and most exciting… a dead rat! Our next outing provided a lizard for Kiwi to harass without actually harming or, frankly, even scaring it terribly.
I am looking forward to many lovely summer afternoons with a book, a beverage, and the kitten on an extendo-leash, exploring to her heart’s content.
