It’s not old age; it was an injury!

December 13, 2011

May I share a glasses story?  Seven years ago, I got a pair because one eye has a terrible astigmatism.  But I hate wearing them because the correction makes everything fun-house and I’m constantly misjudging edges… and stairs… and doorframes.  I only wear them for movies.  I also have headaches; had ’em for years.  lightbulb  When a kid complains of headaches, they trundle him off to the optometrist.  Hm.  I’ve started wearing my glasses.  The headaches might be less, but my outer 40something is fighting with my inner 8 year-old who hates wearing her glasses.  I feel like I’m parenting myself.  And gaining even more respect for parents.  And children who need glasses.  And a grudge against the mirrors getting uppity with all these laugh lines I never had before.

That’s a lot of wisdom, Molly.
